The Horses: Your Donations and Support Helped MVHR Fulfill Our Mission in 2019
Your support this year made it possible to take in 16 equines in need: Casey, Baylor, two called Buddy, Button, Ryder, Lucky, Dolly, Whinny, Minny, Reba and Emmy Lou; plus George, Amber, Cekka and Cassie returned.
Buddy #1 and Baylor had been abandoned in Moffat County; Buddy was very ill and is no longer with us, but his last few weeks involved important medical care and feeding to make his final days more comfortable. Reba came from Silverthorne. Whinny, Minny and Emmy Lou from Yampa. Dolly and Buddy #2 from Carbondale. Casey and Button from Eagle County. And Lucky from Grand Junction. Yes, some suffered from neglect; for others, their owners fell on hard economic times or lives changed making it difficult to keep them.
MVHR was also able to increase rehabilitative training to an ongoing average of 5 horses! In addition, your support helped us lead 6 volunteers in the “60-Day Challenge” providing even more training. Six determined volunteers said “YES!” to the “60-Day Challenge,” working with six Rescue horses and – only Rescue horses – who became the Summer Day Camp herd. A BIG MVHR “Thank You” for their many hours. This work also increased the readiness of these horses for adoption.
Next month, you will read about who was adopted, again, with your help.
