Volunteer Spotlight: Alex Ebert
When you learn that Alex grew up on a farm with a Shetland pony named Sandy and a Quarter horse named Bretta Star, it’s not surprising she would be drawn to the horses at MVHR.
Alex made her way to Eagle, CO from western NY in 1990, and says, “when I saw the majestic mountains, I knew this would be my home.” She started volunteering at MVHR while it was still located in Eagle, and has become more involved again this year.
Her duties at MVHR are “doing chores as needed”, and boy does she ever! Alex is a powerhouse who gets through the regular chores and then stays busy scrubbing water tanks, cleaning the cabin, getting hay loaded for the next volunteer shift, and anything else she can find. “It is a good feeling to know the horses are being taken care of and loved. My heart is always lifted on my way back home.” Alex is also sponsoring Morena, who she says is very special to her.
Thank you, Alex, for being someone who always goes above and beyond in your care for the horses and facilities at MVHR!
