It was the night before ....

"It Was the Night Before Gives Day ..." by MVHR Horses

It was the night before Gives Day in quiet McCoy,

The rescue was silent; which the horses enjoy.

The snow falling down is here to stay,

As Mountain Valley Horse Rescue prepares for the next day.

The barn was aglow with a warm, golden light,

And the horses stood snug in the crisp, frosty night.

With grain in their buckets and hay galore,

These rescued souls rested, safe and secure.

But one special mare, with a heart full of grace,

Stood quietly apart, her own gentle space.

Dolly, they called her, with a coat soft and bright,

Her eyes deep with wisdom, her spirit alight.

Once lost and neglected, her story was bleak,

A shadow of health, so frail, so weak.

But love and persistence had helped her to mend,

At MVHR, she found her true friends.

Dolly now thrives, awaiting her forever home,

with perhaps a green pasture to freely roam

She nickers with kindness for her next person,

Her Journey of Hope is an amazing one for certain.

Back in corrals, the other horses stirred,

With hopes that MVHR’s mission soon would be heard.

For Colorado Gives Day was finally near,

A time for compassion, for kindness, for cheer.

Each dollar that came would go straight to horses,

To hay and to training, and to care and much needed resources.

To healing the horses, both body and soul,

And showing the forgotten they’re worthy and whole.

Dolly stepped to the stall door, her ears tall and bright,

As if sensing the importance of this magical night.

Her story, her strength, would inspire us all,

To bring hope to the herd with no gift to small.

By morning, the rescue’s goal is in sight,

Donors will rally today and all through the night.

For Dolly and others, their futures grew clear,

Thanks to the kindness of those who hold them dear.

So here’s to the givers, the dreamers, the kind,

Who open their hearts and keep horses in mind.

This Colorado Gives Day, let’s all play a part,

And keep the herd safe with a gift from the heart.
