The Ranch: You Can Make MVHR’s Dreams of Being a First-Class Rescue Come True

With your help, MVHR can achieve our dream of having the best on-the-ground facility for equine rescue and rehabilitation on the Western Slope. Both small and large facility improvements are hoped for in 2020.

Larger Dream Capital Improvements to our beautiful Ranch include an indoor training facility, a permanent round pen and a permanent caretaker unit -- all vital if we are to grow, provide staff with key resources and be ready to help more horses. Proper training is the key to making horses more adoptable and currently we can only consistently train horses for about half the year, due to our harsh winters. Imagine what MVHR could with an indoor arena and barns that allow training of horses 12 months of the year!

Smaller projects for 2020 would assure taking in more horses; here’s how:

  • Additional fencing – for better herd rotation and irrigation

  • A permanent round pen – providing a better chance for year-round training, resulting in more adoptions

  • Heavy-duty truck – assuring that the right vehicle is always available to haul horses to the Rescue or for urgent medical care

  • Permanent, hard-wired night lighting for the corrals – enhancing safety for staff and volunteers and providing better observation of the herd during long winter nights

  • Completion of irrigation improvements – healthy pastures means room for more horses

  • Hard-wired generator – providing pumping power during frequent power outages to assure water for the horses

Again, thanks to the generosity of YOU, our supporters, MVHR is poised to meet a key dream element: a true caretaker unit could become a reality in 2020! We have been given the opportunity to purchase a sound, near-new, modular home. Your donation to this project could help make it a reality by next summer!
