Our Programs: Let’s Make MVHR the Western Slope’s Go-To Resource for Equine Rescue & Education

MVHR’s Education and Outreach programs grow our volunteer base and educate the next generation, leading to the rehabilitation of more horses and assuring that our efforts continue beyond next year.

Lindsey Vonn helped spread the word this year, too! Our unique education and service opportunities, for kids and adults, also lead towards making MVHR the go-to community resource for equine education and outreach on the Western Slope. And we have new staff, who are building on Amy Ben-Horin’s foundation!

When MVHR’s equine care community of children, adults, service groups, families, and businesses grows, so grows our outreach, and our pool of possible forever homes and foster opportunities.  Much of this growth happens through:

  • School Service Days

  • Employee Group Service Days

  • Monthly Community Service Days

  • In-depth Basic Volunteer Training & Support

  • Summer Day Camp

  • Mini-Horse Heroes

  • High School Rescue Club

The foundational curricula of these programs was developed by Amy Ben-Horin, MVHR’s first ever Programs Coordinator. Amy (& her husband Dan) moved to the Unaweep Canyon area this past August, and she is succeeded by Steph Busley, Volunteer Coordinator and Kensie Redden, Programs Coordinator. These talented education professionals will build upon Amy’s foundational work – with your continued support.
